Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

My New Years resolution is to commit to write an informative and stimulating blog for the St Michaels Coastal Cottages website.... so here goes, blog number one on day one of 2017.... (lets hope this doesn't go the way of my other resolutions).

Well, we have certainly benefitted from an amazing spell of mild weather over the Christmas period, with some beautiful warm sunshine ( well 13C is pretty warm in December) and some blustery but bright days. The entire St Michaels Coastal Cottages workforce.... that’s the extended Elliott family.... Alison (owner & founder), Paul (admin and maintenance), Louise (bookings) Benjamin (website & marketing), James and Carla (occasional housekeepers) Foy (grandson) and Aella (ships dog), have been together in Marazion for a full week of family celebrations...Christmas, New Year, a house move and two birthdays!

When not eating and dozing,  we enjoyed a glorious visit to Porthgwara Cove to make sand castles defences against the incoming tide; we climbed the cliff and walked from Sennen Cove towards Lands End marvelling at the huge Atlantic swell beating against the wreck of the RMS Mulheim and impressive sea stacks and caves, then watched the surfers revelling in the December sunshine on Whitesand Bay.

We feasted on venison at Tremenheere Kitchen; canoed around St Michaels Mount on a flat sea and swam with seals and swans in the harbour, disturbed the noisy gulls whilst walking Aella on Marazion beach and watched the flocks of starlings manoeuvre over the marsh before sitting around the flaming chiminea to welcome the New Year, enthralled by the illuminated Mount and distant fireworks at Mousehole.  Wow.... what a fabulous family Winter holiday!

We were delighted that nearly all of our properties were occupied over the Christmas period, so that our guests could share the delights of West Cornwall over this festive period and have a special break

With January now upon us it’s time to look forward to the year ahead and pencil in some breaks and holidays. Be sure to consider coming to West Cornwall and stay in one of our cottages or apartments here in the quaint seaside town of Marazion. Every property we manage is just a short stroll away from the beach and the impressive St Michaels Mount. Marazion is simply a great base to spend a holiday, as many of Cornwall’s best natural and tourist attractions are on the doorstep or within a short drive.

We re-launched our website just before Christmas and included the option of on line booking and payment making it easier to see which properties are available. We will be adding a couple new properties to the site in the next couple of weeks so be sure to check out the website to see what’s new.
